New Prints 2012/Winter

Call for Entries Deadline - November 25, 2011

IPCNY presents a selection of new prints four times per year. New Prints 2012/Winter will be the 41st New Prints Exhibition and presented in IPCNY’s new gallery at 508 West 26th St, Rm. 5A.

Criteria for selection are:
Only original fine art (limited edition and unique) prints are eligible; reproductions of other artwork such as drawings or paintings are not acceptable.
Selections will represent a broad diversity of sources, geographical and otherwise.
Prints must have been completed within a year of the submission deadline.

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE. Independent artists, workshops, publishers and dealers are all welcome to submit recently completed print projects. Please refer to the Submission Guidelines.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the increasing number of submissions it is important that you carefully follow the guidelines below when preparing your materials, or your submission may be disqualified.


SUBMISSION GUIDELINES


Materials must be received by November 25, 2011

NO PHONE CALLS

Send images in digital format on a CD (no DVDs) labeled with the submitter's name.
All submissions must contain an image list, included as a word document or plain text document on the CD, as well as a hard copy printout. The list should be presented as follows:

Title the list document file: artist last_artist first.doc
The list must be headed with the name of the submitter and complete contact information: address, phone number and email address. Publishers, please include a new form for each artist submitted.
Each list entry should be numbered corresponding to the number on the digital images. The list should include: Entry number, artist’s name (first last), title, date completed, medium, edition size, dimensions: (Length x Width in inches) plate size, paper size, printer, publisher.

IMAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Images must be clear, professionally presented, and accurately represent the work.
Images must be in jpeg format, the largest dimension (length or width) should be 1000 pixels.
Image resolution must be set at 72 dpi.
Name each image as follows: artist's last  name_first name_entry number. (For example; smith_john_01.jpg,smith_john_02.jpg, etc )

IPCNY: CELEBRATING 10 YEARS IN 2010/11

In just ten years IPCNY has:

•  Organized fifty-three shows in our Chelsea gallery including thirty-six New Prints shows exhibiting the work of some 1,000 artists.
•  Toured twenty-two shows to second venues including four in 2010 alone.
•  Organized two major museum-quality loan shows Hard Pressed and Imagined Worlds for presentation at AXA Gallery.
•  Published two scholarly catalogues and numerous exhibition brochures
•  Organized four successful spring benefit dinners honoring artists, curators and other leaders in the field.
•  Initiated collaborations with institutions such as the Chelsea Cultural Partnership, the IFPDA, the Southern Graphics Council, The Library of Congress,Philagrafika, Wave Hill, Wellesley College, Drexel University, the University of Pennsylvania, New York School of Interior Design, Columbia College Chicago, and, in 2011, the University of Texas/Austin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Print Zero Studio: PRINT EXCHANGE 8

 

DUE:Prints must be received by July 1st, 2012

 From Print Zero Studio: "You might be asking, “What is an exchange?” Well, each participating artist creates an edition of 15 prints, which are submitted to PrintZero Studios. In return for participation, artists each receive 13 randomly collated prints by other artists from around the world (2 prints are kept for archiving and exhibition). All prints submitted for the exchange will be exhibited at PrintZero Studios Seattle in August."

In conjunction with the exchange artists will automatically be entered into the running for our juried exhibition. Thirty artists will be selected for exhibition and a full color catalog of the selected work will be published. Our juror this year is David Jones, director of Anchor Graphics, Chicago, IL.

Exchange 8 Details

  • Edition of 15 prints
  • paper size is 7″ x 10″ (17.8 cm x 25.4 cm)
  • there is a $20 fee for participation ($25 international)
  • each print must be slip sheeted with glassine measuring 7″ x 10″
  • Any traditional printmaking process including lithography, intaglio, silkscreen, relief, etc…
  • No Solely digital prints
  • Prints must be received by July 1st, 2012
  • There is no theme
  • Prints that do not fit the requirements will be returned to the artist

About the Juror

David Jones is the Founder and Director of Anchor Graphics. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he moved to the Midwest to pursue studies in photography and printmaking. He attended the Center for Photographic Studies, Louisville; Banff Centre for the Arts; the Vancouver School of Art; received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, and is currently pursuing his MFA at the Center for Book and Paper Arts. He has taught printmaking at the Chicago Art Institute and at Columbia College Chicago, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Minneapolis and the Board of Directors of Southern Graphics Council International. He was Interim Director at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, NYC.

His work has been included in numerous exhibits in Chicago, Mexico, and throughout the U.S.  Upcoming shows include a two-person exhibit at Moreau Galleries, St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, and LeRoy Neiman Gallery, Columbia University School of the Arts, NYC.

Festival of Arts Admission
$7 for general admission and $4 for seniors and students. Laguna Beach residents with ID receive free admission, as do children under the age of 12. Pageant ticket holders and Festival of Arts members receive free admission all summer long.

The Associates of Brand Library & Art Center is very proud to present The Artwork of Robert Brown: A Retrospective Exhibition of a Life's Work on view at the Brand Library Art Galleries during regular library hours from June 29 through July 9, 2010.

An opening reception will be held Sunday, June 27, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
The reception is open to the public and admission is free.

Robert Brown (1917-2009), one of California's most prominent printmakers
was formerly president of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society Foundation and founder of the LAPS Foundation. His work is in private collections across the United States.

His serigraphs will be sold for extraordinarily affordable prices and all proceeds benefit the Associates of Brand Library & Art Center.
